NOT paying attention is a common theme I seem to be coming across with weekend warriors and athlete a like. What do I mean by this?
Last time you went to go workout, did you…
- Focus on what your body was doing throughout the movement?
- “Feel” the right muscles firing?
- Lean or rotate?
Most likely not, the above mentioned are a few common errors that happen during many basic movements. Let’s take for example the squat, I see a lot of people collapsing in the arch of the feet, uneven distribution of weight, feet are externally rotating as they are squatting lower etc…
This is why it’s so important to really focus on what you’re doing when lifting, otherwise you can potentially injure yourself. Focusing potentially can help you build up lean muscle mass because you’re not concentrating on firing the correct muscles.
To keep it sort and sweet, instead of just going through the motions, next time focus on what muscles you are suppose to be firing and “feel” what your body is doing throughout the exercise movement.
Stay strong!
