I LOVE burgers! Ya go to be out of your mind not to and it’s so simple to make. Sadly most things that are good are usually bad for you… BUT thanks to super creative chefs now a days we can still enjoy our burgers with and still stay ‘low carb’, zero carb, paleo or what have you with these 3 burger bun alternates.
Portobello Mushroom Burger Bun
The portobello mushroom very closely mimics the texture of a burger bun and is about the size of it too. As you can see from the above picture, it holds the burger pretty nicely.
Egg Plant Burger Bun
Another great alternative is using a nice big egg plant. Before you slice it up, you should keep in mind that it will shrink as you grill it. As with any cooking job, spices and condiments really go a long way. I’ve found that adding salt, pepper, spicy chili powder, and balsamic vinaigrette really spiced it up.
Bacon Burger Bun
